Mode of Action
Ivermectin is a member of the macrocylic lactone class of endectocides which have a unique mode of action. Compounds of the class bind selectively and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels which occur in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells.
This leads to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions with hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cell, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite. Compounds of this class may also interact with other ligand-gated chloride channels, such as those gated by the neurotransmitter gammaaminobutyric acid (GABA) The margin of safety for compounds of this class is attributable to the fact that mammals do not have glutamate-gated chloride channels, the macrocylic lactones have a low affinity for other mammalian ligand-gated chloride channels and they do not readily cross the blood-brain barrier.
Indication
Indicated for the effective treatment and control of these parasites:
1. In cattle: gastrointestinal roundworms, lung worms, cattle grubs, screw-worm fly larvae, sucking lice, mange mites.
2. In sheep and goat: gastrointestinal roundworms, lung worms, nasal bots, manage mites.
3. In camels: gastrointestinal roundworms, manage mites
4. In Poultry: Biting lice and mites.
Dosage and Administration
Spray or inunction: 0.05ml per kg body weight, spray or inunction from shoulders to backward.
Precautions
1. Do not smoke or eat while handling ivermectin pour on solution and wash hands after use
2. Container Disposal:
Extremely dangerous to fish and other aquatic life: Do not contaminate surface waters or ditches with the product or used containers. Drug containers or any residual liquid should be disposed of safety such as burying in waste ground and keep away from water source.
Storage Condition
Store below 30°C, in a cool and dry place, avoid sunlight and light.
