Pharmacodynamics
Florfenicol is a broad-spectrum amide alcohol antibiotic and a bacteriostatic agent, which acts by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial proteins by binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome. It has strong antibacterial activity against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Pasteurella hemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae are highly susceptible to florfenicol. The antibacterial activity of florfenicol against many microorganisms in vitro is similar to or stronger than that of thiamphenicol, and some bacteria that are resistant to amide alcohols due to acetylation, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, may still be Sensitive to florfenicol.
It is mainly used for bacterial diseases of pigs, chickens and fish caused by sensitive bacteria, such as the respiratory diseases of cattle and pigs caused by Pasteurella hemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. Typhoid fever and paratyphoid fever caused by Salmonella, chicken cholera, pullorum, Escherichia coli, etc.; fish bacteria caused by Pasteurella, Vibrio, Staphylococcus aureus, Hydromonas, Enteritidis, etc. Sepsis, enteritis, red skin disease, etc.
Pharmacokinetics
Oral administration of florfenicol is rapidly absorbed, and the therapeutic concentration can be reached in the blood after about 1 hour, and the peak blood concentration can be reached in 1 to 3 hours. The bioavailability is over 80%. Florfenicol is widely distributed in animals and can pass through the blood-brain barrier. It is mainly excreted in the original form from the urine, and a small amount is excreted with the feces.
Drug interactions
(1) Macrolides and lincosamides have the same target of action as this product, they are both bound to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, and can produce mutual antagonism when used in combination. (2) It may antagonize the bactericidal activity of penicillins or aminoglycosides, but it has not been demonstrated in animals.
Action and use
Amide alcohol antibiotics. For Pasteurella and Escherichia coli infections.
