Pharmacological action
Pharmacodynamics Ceftiofur is a β-lactam antibacterial drug with broad-spectrum bactericidal effect and is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (including β-lactamase-producing bacteria). Its antibacterial mechanism is to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls and cause bacterial death. Certain Pseudomonas aeruginosa and enterococci are drug-resistant. The antibacterial activity of this product is stronger than that of ampicillin, and its activity against streptococci is stronger than that of fluoroquinolones.
Pharmacokinetics Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections of ceftiofur are rapidly absorbed and widely distributed, but cannot penetrate the blood-brain barrier. The drug concentration in the blood and tissue is high, and the effective blood drug concentration is maintained for a long time. The active metabolite desfuroylceftiofur (Desfuroylceftiofur) can be produced in the body, and further metabolized into inactive products to be excreted in urine and feces.
Function and Use
β-Lactam antibiotics. It is mainly used to treat bacterial diseases of livestock and poultry. Such as cattle, pig bacterial respiratory tract infection and chicken Escherichia coli, Salmonella infection and so on.
Usage and Dosage
Calculated by Ceftiofur. Intramuscular injection: one dose, 3~5mg per 1kg body weight for pigs; once a day, for 3 consecutive days. Subcutaneous injection: 0.1 mg per bird for 1-day-old chickens
Adverse reactions
(1) It may cause gastrointestinal flora disturbance or superinfection.
(2) It has certain nephrotoxicity.
(3) Local transient pain may occur.
Precautions
(1) Ready-to-use.
(2) The dose should be adjusted for animals with renal insufficiency.
(3) People who are highly sensitive to beta-lactam antibiotics should avoid contact with this product.
Drug Interactions
It has a synergistic effect when used in combination with penicillin and aminoglycosides.
Withdrawal period
4 days for pigs.
