Pharmacological Action
Pharmacodynamics: Iron is the main component of hemoglobin and myoglobin. Hemoglobin is the main oxygen carrier in red blood cells. Myoglobin is the site where muscle cells store oxygen to help supply oxygen during muscle exercise. Most enzymes and factors implicated in the tricarboxylic acid cycle contain iron, or can only function in the presence of iron. Therefore, after active iron supplementation in iron-deficient animals, in addition to accelerated hemoglobin synthesis, symptoms related to tissue iron deficiency and decreased iron-containing enzyme activity such as growth retardation, behavioral abnormalities, and physical deficiency can be gradually corrected. Pharmacokinetics Iron for injection, which is absorbed more rapidly than orally; plasma concentrations peak at 24 ∼ 48 hours after intramuscular injection of iron dextran, i.e.
Iron dextran molecules are large, absorbed by lymphatic vessels and then transferred to the blood, and the plasma concentration increases slowly; after injection into the blood circulation or intramuscular injection, they are phagocytosed and decomposed into iron and dextran by the monocyte-phagocyte system. After absorption, iron ions are oxidized by ceruloplasmin in the blood to trivalent iron ions, which then bind to transferrin receptor and enter the cells in the form of pinocytosis for hematopoietic cells. They can also accumulate in the liver, spleen, bone marrow and other monocyte-phagocyte systems in the form of ferritin or hemosiderin. Protein binding is high in hemoglobin, low in myoglobin, enzymes, and iron-transporting proteins, and low in ferritin or hemosiderin.
Action and Use
Anti-anemia drugs. For iron deficiency anaemia in foals, calves, piglets, puppies and fur animals.
Dosage And Administration
Intramuscular injection: a single dose, 4 ~ 12ml for foals and calves; 2 ~ 4ml for piglets; 0.4 ~ 4ml for puppies; 1 ~ 4ml for foxes; 0.6 ~ 2ml for mink.
Adverse Reactions
Piglets injected with iron occasionally experience unstable standing due to muscle weakness, which can cause death in severe cases.
Precautions
(1)This product has greater toxicity and requires strict control of intramuscular injection dose.
(2)Intramuscular injection can cause local pain and should be injected deep into the muscle.
(3)Injection in pigs older than 4 weeks of age can cause staining of the gluteal muscles.
(4)It needs to be protected from freezing, and precipitation can occur after a long time.
Iron salts can react with many chemicals or drugs, so they should not be administered simultaneously or mixed orally with other drugs.
Withdrawal Period
Does not need to be developed.
